Autumn 2002
Kids First News

Welcome to kids First news. We hope you have all enjoyed the first half term and the holiday has been a good break for all. We welcome Tracey to the staffing team, Tracey works as a 1 to 1 support assistant one day a week.

Last term we looked at nursery rhymes, I hope the children have taught you some new versus of some old favourites. This term we will be looking at winter festivals, (see home link).

On 15th Nov we will be icing biscuits for children in need day, so please bring some money with you when you collect. On 18th, 19th, 20th  Nov we are making vegetable soup so will require a vegetable on these dates instead of fruit please.

Lots of children have been bringing in their own drinks and these have caused some problems (children with allergies). To help combat this problem we will now have a fruit drink available as well as milk or water. If your child must bring their own drink in these must be clearly marked with child's name, then placed on the tables by the kitchen. Snack should be a piece of fruit to share. Or, if your child does not eat fruit then only 1 or 2 plain biscuits in a pot clearly labelled.

Key groups

Key workers have been gathering information and observing the children in their group. This information leads to individual learning plans. Because of new attainment records introduced to the borough this term, the individual plans have been delayed. As soon as the plans are written Key workers will talk through the plans with parents. We welcome your input into plans so do speak to your child’s key worker, they are as follows:

Green   Sandy

Yellow   Lynn

Blue     Natalie

Red    Theresa or Donna

Orange  Nicola or Maureen

Purple   Karen.

The Christmas party will be on 12th December. If your child does not normally attend on this day, then a payment of £5.50 will be required. This means everyone has paid the same and the extra money then goes towards the entertainer and food for the party. Parents are welcome to stay particularly if your child is not confident with entertainers or Father Christmas.

On 13th December (last day) we will be open as normal, but ask parents to come back earlier for a Christmas concert. Full details will follow later.

Partnership with Parents

We want parents to take an active part within Kids First,  you can help in several ways. We will be running a parent rota from this term, please sign up. We also have a parent committee that are currently raising funds for our garden project, they need your help and support. (have you placed your Christmas card orders yet).

Photo orders these must be in by  31st Oct.
