Long term planning for Kids First Pre-school academic year September -July. Over the 3 terms we aim to deliver an education for the Children in our care which will prepare them for their next stages of development.
It is the group, Kids First belief that the Children will learn through Play, with adults providing a supporting role in a safe and stimulating environment.
With encouragement we aim to promote independence and confidence, early mathematical understanding, the ability to control their physical co-ordination and to use their imagination effectively and to gain knowledge of the environment around them.
To promote these areas we will use a range of experiences and activities within group, which will include the six areas of the Early Learning Goals.
The areas to be identified are
- Personal social and emotional
- Communication language and literacy
- Mathematical development
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Creative development.
We aim to prepare our older Children for reception class, by encouraging good role models, increasing confidence and extending skills already learnt whilst participating in group activities and games.
The younger Children in our care will be nurtured to gain confidence with preparation given to develop skills and promote social skills to help formation of friends whilst working in small groups.
To enable staff to identify progress and extend learning goals children will be observed in play and appropriate play plans implemented with key worker support and Parental involvement.
The group will strive to provide the best resources available, and pool on experiences from parents / carers and the local community to achieve this.
We will be using the nursery projects magazine, which we subscribe to yearly. An agreed curriculum is formed under a topic web, (of which a copy is available on the notice board). Where we will break down the ½ terms into themes to achieve our aims and objectives, using various activities recommended and those tried and tested which are suitable for the needs of the Children in our setting.
Each Child will develop using the Early Learning Goals which are explained in detail on the following pages.
